About nine years ago, I started taking interior design classes at Santa Rosa Junior College. I absolutely fell in love with the design process and decided that hands-down, I was going to be an interior designer. Soon after, I moved to sunny San Diego and attended the Design Institute. Having been my first time away from home and out on my own, I quickly got distracted by the fast-paced world that surrounded me. I met a handsome sailor who stole my heart, received a promotion at my job and before I knew it, I left DI to do merchandising full time at Restoration Hardware.

Several years and a couple of jobs later, my longtime goal of earning a bachelors degree seemed less and less likely, but my drive toward design continued to call to me. Finally, in 2006, I moved in with my sailor, quit my full time job and enrolled in the interior design program at San Diego State University. In 2008, my sailor and I celebrated our graduation from college, me with my degree in art and interior design and him with a degree in business and financial services.

Skip ahead to present day. Kevin, aka “my sailor” and I just moved into a 1950’s rental home in a quaint San Diego neighborhood called South Park. We’ve been really enjoying fixing up our new little place and making it feel like home. I think that's what has inspired me once again to get back to design. See, after college, the construction and design industries were hit hard by the economic downturn. Having not worked for about a year, let’s just say, I NEEDED A JOB! An administrative assistant position at the advertising agency I had left to go back to school became available and that’s where I have now been for the last two years. My goal has always been to go back to design once things started to pick back up, so I figure, what better time than the present.
I hope that you will find my blog interesting and inspiring and that perhaps you’ll think of me the next time you have a design or decorating dilemma, event to plan or just need help getting organized.
Hey lady! I just thought I'd tell you that I really enjoy reading your blog! Keep up the good work and I can't wait until I can call you my friend AND MY DECORATOR!
